The death of Frank Scully, of Rothesay, husband of Bea (Sturrock) Scully, occurred on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Edward and Ethel (Cotter) Scully. Frank attended local schools and served with the R.C.A.F. during WWII. He worked for Texaco and finally retired after 40 years of faithful employment. Frank enjoyed and actively participated in sports of all types throughout his entire life: rugby, soccer, baseball, speed-skating, in his youth and pleasure skating in later years, tennis, golf etc. Frank was a long time member of the Rothesay Tennis Club, the Lancaster Skating Club and the Riverside Golf and Country Club, as well as an honorary member of the Hampton Tennis Club. Besides his loving wife, Bea, Frank is also survived by four children, Edward (Patricia) of Ponteix, SK, Paul (Nilah) and Mary Breen (John), both of Hampton, and Margo Hilchey (Terry) of Pictou, NS; 12 grandchildren, David and Doug Scully, Colleen Callaghan, Tim, Greg, Jack, and Patrick Breen, Hillary, Candace Farris, and Michael Scully, and Jeff and Cathy Hilchey; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Kathleen Caisse; and three brothers, William, John Patrick, and Maurice. Frank was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Resting at Reid's Funeral Home, 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, (506) 832-5541, with visitation on Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Rothesay, on Friday, June 25, 2010, at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Saint John, NB. For those who wish, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
