The passing of Bennett (Ben) Otty Orchard of Fredericton occurred at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital on Sunday, June 27th, 2010. He was 83.
Born in Whites Cove N.B, he is the son of the late James Otty and Grace Levina (DeLong) Orchard. Presbyterian by faith, Ben worked for Irving Oil for 25 years until his retirement.
Survived by his grandchildren, Heather and Jeff Johnston, Jackie and Daniel Holmes, Angie and Cameron Taylor, several nieces and nephews, as well as special friends Cindy McBride, David Miller and best friend Peggie MacKenzie.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his first wife Daisy Chase, his second wife Christina Hovey, one brother Robert Orchard, one sister Doris DeLong and one aunt Beulah Orchard,
Although there will be no visitation, a funeral service will be held from Bishop's Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday June 30, 2010 at 1PM with Rev Basil Lowery officiating. Interment will follow in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery Extension. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
