John Edward "Johnie" Williams of Miramichi passed away quietly at home in the presence of his family at the age of 89. John was born in Douglastown, NB, son of the late Lawrence and Helen (Legere) Williams. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Joan (Kearney), sons; Hugh of Debec, Thom of Halifax, daughter; Eleanor (King) of Brooklin, ON. He was a veteran of WW II, and served on Navy Corvettes, in the Atlantic & Pacific Theatres. John was a retired plant operator of NB Power Commission and Honorary Life time 4th degree Knight.
John is resting at Maher's Funeral Home, Miramichi, NB on Wednesday, June 30th from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday July 1st at 11am from St Michael's Basilica with Fr John Fraser officiating. Interment will be in St Michael's Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to the St. Michael's Renovation Fund or a memorial of one's choice.
