January 16, 1928 ~ June 25, 2010

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Maurice on June 25, 2010 at Nanaimo Seniors Village.
He was predeceased by is son David.

He will be remembered by his loving wife Doreen Smith, sons Robert (Judy) and Gerald (Sandy), 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maurice proudly served as a Fire Fighter in England, Kitimat, Port Alberni, and Kamloops, was Past President of the Industrial Firefighting Engineers, and the BC Fire Chiefs Association. He played a key role in the amalgamation of the City of Port Alberni and Kamloops Fire Departments.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and took great pleasure in his renovation project at Deep Bay.

Special thanks to the staff at Nanaimo Seniors Village for the extra special care given to Dad during his stay.

A Memorial Service will be held July 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home, 4470 Gertrude Street, Port Alberni, BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
