Marion Frances Mingo, age 83, formerly of Mitchell St., New Glasgow, passed away Friday, May 15, 2009 in the Mira Nursing Home, Truro.
Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Cecil John and Edith Florence (Schwartz) Havill. She was educated in Halifax and lived in Amherst for a brief time before moving to New Glasgow with her husband. She was a member of Trinity United Church; the New Glasgow Gyrette Club; and the Aberdeen Hospital Auxiliary. She was a former member of the I.O.D.E. and the Abercrombie Golf and Curling Club. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children: Carol Peck (Gary Barkley), Dartmouth; John (Lillian), Quispamsis, NB; Marilyn Vann, Dartmouth; Stephen (Anne), Three Brooks; grandchildren: Jennifer (Cory) Sanford; Jillian Peck (Guillo Espinosa); Stephanie (Steven) Gould; Delaney Vann; Nicholas Mingo; great grandchildren: Lucas and Lauren Sanford; Joaquin Espinosa; former son-in-law Warren Peck.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Mingo; brother Cecil John Havill; son-in-law, Michael Vann.
Funeral service was held Monday in Trinity United Church, New Glasgow with Bonnie Fraser officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the S.P.C.A.
