It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a loving husband and true friend, Hugh Robert “Bob” MacDonald.
Born in Bridgeville, Pictou County in 1921, he was the son of the late James and Elizabeth (MacKenzie) MacDonald. He was employed as a trucker by Eastern Transport and later by the Department Of Transportation for 35 years from which he retired. He enjoyed camping and tinkering with his steam engines and wood splitter.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years; Edna England New Glasgow, formerly of Guysborough County; sisters: Anna, Katherine, Betty MacDonald, Shirley Embree, all of Bridgeville; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters: Jessie Alice, Vera Ruth, Isabel Cummings; brothers: Allister, Billy, both of Bridgeville; Theodore, New Glasgow.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday in the H. W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Heather Landry officiating. Burial will be in Bridgeville Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
Donations in memory of Bob may be made to the S. P. C. A., Alzheimer’s Society or to a charity of one’s choice. Special thanks to the staff of Glen Haven Manor for their kindness to Bob. Lunch will be served at Bridgeville Community Centre following the burial. Everyone welcome.
