Rita (Murphy) Ruckle, 80 years of age, of Brandon, Manitoba and formerly of Whitney Pier and South Bar, passed away July 1, 2010, in Assiniboine Hospital in Brandon, after a brief battle with cancer.
She was the daughter of the late Garrett Murphy and Mary Ann Kehoe of Sydney. Rita is survived by her loving husband, Ron and sons, David (Myra) and Kevin (June). She is also survived by her sisters, Cecilia, a resident of the MacGillivray Guest Home and Sr. Mary Murphy, CND, at St. Theresa Convent in Sydney; as well as several nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews.
Rita was predeceased by two sisters, Helen in infancy and Eileen 'Tootie' Tatlock and brother-in-law, Derrick 'Tat' and nephew, Gary.
Rita attended Holy Redeemer Girls School, after which she worked at Sam Sherman's Men's Wear for a number of years. Later she travelled west, where she met Ron. They married in 1958 and lived in Flin Flon, Manitoba for several years before moving to Brandon.
Cremation has taken place and burial will be at a later date in the Carberry Plains Cemetery in Carberry, Manitoba.
