Weir, Jennie Evelyn - 89, of Kentville, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2010 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in the lighthouse at Burntcoat, Hants County, she was a daughter of the late William and Catherine (McCulloch) Faulkner. Jennie enjoyed travelling in the motor home, stopping at many places to visit with friends and family members. She had a special love for animals, especially her dog Ginger. She had been a regular at the Windsor Exhibition and enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking and loved family get-togethers. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Maurice; two sons, William "Billy" (Sylvia) and Douglas (Marie), both of Kentville; two half-sisters, Alice Eddy and Lenora Burgess; a half-brother, Donnie Faulkner; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" Murphy and Shirley Zwicker; a sister, Mary; three brothers, Ruben, Letson and Ervin; a half-brother, Jim. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4, 2010, Reverend Doctor Peter Lohnes officiating. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Family flowers only, by request.
