Ida Scott, passed away July 5, 2010. Ida was born on March 5, 1928 on the family farm at Richie, SK, the fifth child of Adam and Alice Cleveland. She attended Desmond School, four miles south of the homestead. Ida left school at fifteen and went to work at the Ceylon Hotel in Ceylon, SK as a chambermaid. She left Ceylon at 18 and went to work for a family in Weyburn as a caregiver and housekeeper. She worked there until she was 20 and then got a job working for Beth and Martin Foley in Harptree, SK. While working for the Foley's she met Calder Scott and they were married on October 28, 1949. They resided on the Scott family farm after their marriage. They moved to Moose Jaw in 1960, where they raised their young family and Ida worked as a cleaning lady for many people and businesses. She retired from work in 1987 to take care of her ailing husband who passed away shortly after she retired. Ida is predeceased by her husband Calder in 1987, sons Ronald Allan in 1957 and Neal Lawrence in 1983, daughter Maxine Jane in 1961; brothers Cameron, Walter and Leslie Cleveland; and son-in-law Bob Buchholz. She is survived by her children: Alice Buchholz, Darlene (Rick) Smolak, Tom (Marilyn) Scott, Ida (Garth) Rousell, Elaine (Darrell) Kohl; sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers Melvin - Bengough, Herbie - Brooks, AB, twin sister Edna and sister Isabell - Bengough; many nieces and nephews, and a special friend Dick Schanowski. The Funeral Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Thursday July 8, 2010 at 10:30 am. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow at the family plot Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will take place Wednesday evening 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Memorials to the Alzheimer Association, #301 - 2550 12th Ave., Regina, S4P 3X1, would be appreciated. In living memory of Ida, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
