The death of Catherine (Kit) Butler, wife of the late Frederick J. Butler of Chaplin Island Road, Miramichi, NB occurred at her late residence on Thursday, July 8, 2010.
Born in Larkhall, Scotland, on Sept. 27, 1919, Catherine was the daughter of the late James and Rachel (Kelly) Gordon. She was a war bride, married her husband in Scotland and arrived at Pier 21 in Halifax on August 1946. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Miramichi, NB.
She is survived by five children: Rachel, Gordon (Sandra), Fred (Jeannie), Elizabeth all of Miramichi and Raymond (Nicole) of Fredericton, NB: by five grandchildren: Melanie (Jeff Brown) and Ashley Foran, Aaron and Brandon Butler and Jordan Butler and by two great-grandchildren: Reece and Jack Brown and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sisters and one brother, Mary Gordon, Isa Millar and John Gordon. She was the last surviving member of her family.
The family will receive visitors at Bell's Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mary's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 9 AM with Father Douglas McNeil officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Mary's Capital Campaign or to the Miramichi Extra-Mural Program.
