GAIL SMITH
Date de naissance : 16 octobre 1933
Date de décès : 7 juillet 2010
Sadly we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on July 7, 2010 after a courageous 3 ½ year battle with cancer, surrounded by family and friends. Gail is survived by her husband Charles Smith, two daughters, Carol (Robert) Kohl, grandson Dwayne (Michelle) and great-grandson Micah; Donna (Ross) Friars, grandson David; sister Phyllis Heymans; also sisters-in-law Ethel (Lewis) Smale, Alta Smith; brothers-in-law John Smith, Tom (Gina) Smith, Walter Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Benjamin and Elizabeth (Bessie) Franks, brother Warren, and sister Joyce Giles; brother-in-¬law Anthony Heymans and sister-in-law Mary Boadway; parents-in-law Ernest and Ethel Smith, and brother-in-law Robert Smith. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Gail eventually traveled west with her husband and they settled in Mortlach in 1964. During her early years in Mortlach she taught many of the local children piano. Gail was a talented and gifted musician, she could play anything from the mandolin to the organ. For the most part she was a stay at home mom. In her later years she "discovered" computers, and she was probably one of the very few seniors that could wipe her own computer and still have it work after. She and her closest companion Jasper entered the Agility Club of Moose Jaw and they both found their haven. Watching him win his ribbons was the highlight of her life. Unfortunately she never got to see him receive his Masters but we are sure she will watch and cheer him on from above. Following cremation, a private family memorialization will be held. Friends and neighbours are invited to share in Gail's memory at a Tea to be held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 2:00pm at W. J. Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society 61B Ross Street. W, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 2M2 or the Moose Jaw Health Foundation Palliative Care, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1H3. In living memory of Gail, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
