Hollis W. MacTavish, 80, of Spencer Memorial Home and formerly of Charyl Court, Riverview, with his family by his side, passed away peacefully at The Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital on Monday, July 12, 2010. Born in Halcomb, NB, he was the son of the late Lyman and Merle (Johnston) MacTavish. Hollis was a retired postal clerk with Canada Post and a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. He was a great Prayer Warrior and a generous giver to missions. Hollis enjoyed leather crafts, stamp and hockey card collecting, was an avid reader and Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Red Sox fan and had a great love of singing Old Tyme Gospel hymns and reading his bible. Hollis will be sadly missed by his daughter, Joanne King , Riverview; grandson, Joshua; stepmother, Olga (Hamilton) MacTavish, Halcomb, NB; Sisters, Nancy Dunnett, Moncton, Catherine Hill (Rev. Carroll), Sussex, Irma Gray (Rev. David), Nasonworth, Carolyn Thurber (Randy), Salisbury; Brothers, Donald (June), Halcomb, NB and Robert (Elsie), Berry Mills; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie (Hopper) MacTavish (November 2005); Brothers-in-law, Eugene Kierstead and Boyd Dunnett.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Spencer Memorial Home for the love, care and compassion given to Hollis during his time there. Funeral Service, Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, July 15, 2010, 11:00 am. Rev. Charles Cook officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service.
