It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and sister, Eva Vivian (Hinks) Whitty, who passed away peacefully, on Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in North Sydney on March 14, 1930, she was the daughter of the late George & Beatrice Hinks. Eva was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, North Sydney and an active member of the Senior's Day Program at Harbour View Hospital in Sydney Mines.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 63 years, John Hector; children, Marie (Greg) O'Flaherty and their children, Greg (Cara) and Jennifer (Raymond) of Sydney; Mabel Ivey and her daughter, Kerri-Ann of North Sydney; John (Nicole) and their children, Ryan, Laura and Emma of Cornwall, P.E.I., and Michael (Dana) of North Sydney; two sisters, Mabel (Jerry Gouthro), North Sydney and Mary (the late Gerald Bungay), Kingston, N.S.
Besides her parents, Eva was predeceased by an infant son, George Hector; an infant daughter and a brother, George.
Visitation for Eva will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Wednesday), in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Jim Attwood officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
