BATES, ARLENE F. - 84, of Debert, Colchester Co., and formerly of Highland Village passed away Monday, July 12, 2010 at Debert Court. Born in Jamaica Plains, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Warren and Beatrice (Wasson) Doyle. She was employed for the Masstown Market for many years. She was well known throughout the area for her preserves and her handwork, particularly her quilting and crocheting. She is survived by a son, Phillip, Kitchener, Ont.; daughter-in-law, Violet Spencer, Chisasibi, Que.; a sister, Iona Canning, Five Islands; 6 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James; sons, James and Gordon; a sister, Audrey; brother, Edward. A funeral service for both Arlene and her son, Jim who passed away June 15, 2010 will be held 3 p.m. Thursday [July 15, 2010] at Peniel United Church, Five Islands, Rev.
