Passed away peacefully at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on July 5, 2010, Mr. Benedict T. Maher of Bird Cove, NL in his 82nd year. Benedict leaves to mourn his wife Julia; niece Maria (Lloyd), Stephenville; nephews Tom (Judy), Corner Brook, Dale (Stella), Bird Cove, and Larry (Josie), St. John's; great-nieces Monique, Denise and families, Shandi and Chelsea; great-nephews Thomas, Joshua, and Steven as well as a large circle of other family and friends. Mr. Mahar was predeceased by his parents Nelli and Thomas, his sisters Helena and Clara and brother-in-law Lawrence (Clara), stepbrothers Pius and Tom and sister-in-law Stella (Pius) and nephews Pius and Tom. The family received friends at Our Lady of Grace Church in Bird Cove on Wednesday and Thursday, from where the funeral took place on Friday, July 9 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Rogers officiating. Interment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Bird Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Levinia Fillatre, funeral director.
