TRENTON – Aubrey Graham Gratto, age 89, formerly of Spruce Street, Trenton, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009, in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow.
Born in Trenton, he was a son of the late Frederick and Clara (Whitman) Gratto.
A blacksmith by trade, he retired in 1984 after 46 years at the Trenton Steel Works. He was a member and long standing elder at First United Church. He maintained the United Church MacLennan Memorial Camp for 30 years.
He is survived by daughters, Linda (Bob) Smith, New Glasgow; Phyllis (Velma) Martell, Arichat; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Jeans, Trenton; Reta (Pat) Gordon, Linacy.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Elsie May Jarvis; great-granddaughter, Hannah; sisters: Edna Misener, Esther Lamb, Helen Worth; brothers, Clair and Fred.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton. Funeral service 2 p.m. Sunday in First United Church, Trenton with Rev. Debra Orton officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
Donations in his memory may be made to First United Church General Fund.
