Brenda Faulkner

FAULKNER, BRENDA L. - 70, of Amherst, Cumberland Co. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan following a brief battle with cancer. Born in Parrsboro, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Blanche (Fullerton) Brown. Brenda is survived by her husband, Edward "Red"; son, Craig (Karen), Fort Smith, NWT and grandchildren, Morgan, Iziah and Jenna; son, Steven (Kim), Rankin Inlet, Nunavut and grandchildren, Connor and Parker; three sisters, Carol Howie, Peterborough, Ont.; Dawn Dainard, Halifax; Margo Winters (Reginald), Lower Sackville. She was predeceased by three brothers, Ronald, Lawrence and Brian. Brenda graduated from Nova Scotia Teacher's College and taught on several RCAF bases in her early years of teaching and then as a primary teacher for over 20 years at R.B. Dickey Elementary School where she retired in 1995. She loved the children and those that were fortunate enough to have her for their first year of school received a wonderful introduction to education. Brenda enjoyed reading, cooking, bird watching and spending time with her family. Her wonderful sense of humour could not be matched. She has been taken from us far too soon. She will be loved and missed forever by her family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Trinity United Church, Parrsboro, Keith Selwyn-Smith, D.M. officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre for their work, caring and compassion.
