It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clarence Whitehorne announce his passing on Friday, July 23, 2010 at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital at the age of 81 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his brothers: Cyril Whitehorne, Charles Dyke; sister Carol Dyke; long time friend Janet Petite as well as nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was predeceased by his father Willis Whitehorne, mother Bessie (nee: Tucker) Dyke; step-father Gideon Dyke; sister Mary Whitehorne; brother Ronald Whitehorne. Clarence came to Stephenville from Corner Brook where he grew up as a young man and owned several businesses in Stephenville and St. George's until his retirement. He was also an accomplished Musician. Visitation will take place at St. Augustine's Anglican Church, 55 Hillview Avenue, Stephenville, NL on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. from where the funeral service will take place on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Canon Dawn Barrett officiating. Interment will follow the service at Hillside Interfaith Cemetery in Stephenville. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
