Leo MacDougall
It is with great sadness that we, the family of Leo MacDougall, announce his death. Leo passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on July 30, 2010.
Born in Sydney on May 10, 1949, he was the son of the late Walter and Helen (MacKinnon) MacDougall, Jamesville West.
He was a member of Blessed Pope John XXIII parish, Cole Harbour.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Linda (MacKinnon), Cole Harbour; son, Ian, Cole Harbour; daughters, Kaela, Cole Harbour; Erin (Will) Dingwall, Moose Jaw Sask.
He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Jane (Greg) MacMillan, their children Theresa, Geraldine, Helen, Natalie and Jean-Marie, Big Pond; Angela MacDougall, Antigonish; Jo-Ann MacDougall, Toronto and his brothers, Duncan (Bernadette) MacDougall, their children Liam and Andrew MacDonald, Ottawa Brook; Dan E. MacDougall, his children Emilee and Daniel, Timberlea.
He was predeceased by his brother, André and nephew, Scott Alexander MacDougall.
He will be greatly missed by the MacKinnon family of Margaree Harbour.
Leo will also be greatly missed by his close friends and colleagues at The Co-operators Insurance where he worked for 37 years and his fellow Karate enthusiasts and students at the Halifax Ryuseikan Karate Club. He was especially proud of earning his black belt.
Special thanks to the palliative care team for their care and concern throughout Leo's illness. Thank you to Sue Gibbon for making it possible for Leo to be cared for at home.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Atlantic Funeral Home Chapel, 771 Main St., Dartmouth and on Monday, August 2, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in St. Columba Parish Hall, Iona. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 3 at 11 a.m. in St. Columba Church. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, McKinnon's Harbour.
Donations to the Palliative Care Unit of the VG site, QEII are requested in lieu of flowers.
