Elva May Reid was born April 24,1925 in Fiske, Saskatchewan passed away on July 29, 2010 in Merritt, B.C.

Elva is survived by her daughters Gail Pilon of Kamloops, B.C. and Darlene (Steve) Emmons of Red Deer, Alberta. Her six grandchildren and their families Neil (Trina) Pilon and their children Taylor, Kayley, Jacob and Sara of Kamloops, B.C., Roni-Jean (Larry) Mauvieux of Saskatoon, Sask., Vicki (Preston) Hanson and their children Samantha, Brennan and Janaya of Kamloops, B.C., Steven (Lisa) Emmons of St. Thomas, Ont. and daughters Stephanie and Nikita. Heliena Emmons and her two boys Kevin and Robert of Alberta and Christy Emmons of Red Deer, Alberta. She is survived by sister Doris Kalish of New Westminster B.C., brother-in-law Terry Fulton of Moose Jaw, Sask. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also survived by the town of Merritt.

She was predeceased by her parents John and Carrie Moore, husband Sam in 1989, son-in-law Ed Pilon, brothers and sisters Stanley (Helen) Moore, Ernest (Elsie) Moore, Melissa Fulton, Carrie (Donald) Wardstrom and two great grandchildren Rory and Samantha Goodhope.

Elva joined the Army at the age of eighteen and that is where she met her husband Sam Reid. They were married on December 28, 1944. At the end of the war they moved to Brightview, Alberta where they took up farming with Sam's mother and father. It was there that their 2 daughters were born. The family moved to Merritt in 1960. Elva was recognized for her service to Merritt, the town that she loved and where she wanted to remain forever.

We, her proud family,
are already missing her in
our lives and will forever.

Her service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Merritt at 2:00 P.M. on August 4, 2010.

Merritt Funeral home is in charge of cremation.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Merritt Centennial Hockey Club, The Royal Canadian Legion, Merritt Branch, The Canadian Cancer Fund or the Heart and Stroke Fund will be greatly appreciated.
