Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB surrounded by her family, on August 3, 2010. Mrs. Myrtle Mae (Watson) Deveau, wife of the late Mr. Lester J. Deveau of Blacks Harbour NB. Born at Blacks Harbour on April 9, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Clara (Gaudett) Watson. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by two daughters; Cheryl (Ronald) McVicar of Caithness NB and Joyce (Beecher) Hawkins of Pennfield NB, two sons; Harold Deveau and Roger (Kelly) Deveau all of Blacks Harbour, nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two sisters; Mary "Mayme" Doyle of Miramichi NB and Mabel "Mae" Conley of St. Stephen NB, one aunt, Catherine Guptil of Alberta and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one sister, Mary Watson. Prior to her retirement, Myrtle worked as a packer for Connors Bros before going to work as a custodian for the NB Department of Education. She was employed at the Blacks Harbour School, along with her husband Lester, for more than 20 years. She loved knitting, crocheting and doing crossword puzzles and was a wonderful cook. She also enjoyed music and loved playing the spoons. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB from where the service will be held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Friday at 11 am with Father Brian Wetmore officiating, followed by the interment at the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Cemetery, Blacks Harbour NB. Visiting at the funeral home will take place on Thursday from 6 to 9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Myrtles memory to the Charlotte County Hospital Palliative Care or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. (www.stgeorgefh.ca)
