Lewis Harold Kennedy of Riverview passed away Wednesday, August 4 at the Moncton City Hospital at the age of 94. Born March 27, 1916 in Truro, NS, he was the son of the late John and Evangeline (Frizzell) Kennedy. He was a Veteran of WWII, having served overseas with the RCAF. Following over 40 years service he retired from the CNR, where he worked as a pipefitter. As a young man Lewis was an avid sports enthusiast. Interest in sports continued as he coached many of his children's sports teams throughout their school years. Dancing remained a favourite activity of his for many years. In retirement he enjoyed woodworking, ham radio, curling, golf and darts, as well as tending bar at the Lakeside Golf Club. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge for many years. Lew's quick wit and ready retort was a source of entertainment for his family until he became hospitalized in April of this year. His sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Lewis is survived by his second wife Edna Loggie (Manderson), and children: Mary Lou Kennedy (Dale Fletcher) of Brisbane, Australia, Joyce Kennedy (Bill Leslie) of Halifax, NS, Lindsay Kennedy (Stefan Wereszczynsky) of Ottawa, ON, Myrna Ferguson (Terry) of Montague, PE, and Ian Kennedy of Milford, NS. Lew has seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Lew and Edna recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Ellen (Collins).
In honoring Lewis' wishes there will be a private family graveside service at the Elmwood Cemetery in Moncton. Donations to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
