CHAN COMPTON (nee McCrady), Edna
With sadness the family announces the passing of our matriarch, Edna on August 2, 2010 in her 90th year. Edna was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on October 21, 1920, and passed away as she lived, with pride and dignity, and on her terms on August 2, 2010. Edna was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her eldest and youngest brothers. Edna is lovingly remembered by her family and friends: son Keith and Bev McCrady and families, son Joe and Shirley Chan and families, daughter Cheryel and Don Goodale and families. The love and support for Edna was overwhelming by her children and families, and what sets Edna apart was how her grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-law, and friends all had special relationships with her, and always kept in touch. Edna was born in Moose Jaw and raised on South Hill, and resided in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and Edmonton, Alberta. Edna was a long service member of the Legion, and a 50 year member of the Army, Navy & Airforce Veterans.
Edna learned from her mother and father the true meaning of sportsmanship and how to maintain family pride and belonging. Edna was an amazing woman - faced with adversity, she just toughened up and met each challenge head on. No words can describe the values and lessons she taught us. Edna will be missed but her sense of family pride and belonging will flourish. At a future date, Edna will rest in peace in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
