It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and brother, Joseph T. Bryden, 69, of New Waterford on Aug. 9, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Born May 29, 1941, in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Joseph and Kathleen (MacMullin) Bryden.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Helen (Seratto); children, Louis (Glenda), Winnipeg, Cheryl (Jim) Ryan, New Waterford, Joseph (Lee-Anne) Bryden, Bedford; grandchildren, Joshua, Victoria, Sarah, Ava, Tessa; brothers, Melvin (Brenda), Jim (Jenny); sister, Georgina (Kenny) MacKenzie.
Always a family man, his children and grandchildren were his greatest joy.
He had a passion for golf and enjoyed his time with friends at the Lingan Golf Club.
In honour of Joseph's wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass celebrating Joseph's life will take place Thursday, Aug. 12 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Paul MacNeil officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, River Ryan, with a luncheon to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, New Waterford.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre or a charity of one's choice.
