Brad Hutchinson
Hutchinson, Bradford Daniel: Brad Hutchinson's life began in Sydney, on May 7, 1962, and ended suddenly in a physical sense on March 27, 2010, but he is ever alive in the thoughts of his family and his wide circle of friends.
Brad is one of those rare individuals who never met anyone he did not like or treat with respect, and in turn everyone who knew him was taken by his unfailing charity and warmth.
He reserved his deepest affection for his sister Jane and her husband Colin from Houston Texas, his mother Joyce, and his father Ronald who predeceased him, and his adopted family Burt and Peter Coutts from Halifax.
Brad spent his formative years in Amherst, graduating in 1980 from Amherst Regional High School. He received his Bachelor of Commerce at Acadia University in 1984. He received his first lessons in finance from his beloved mother Joyce while seated around the kitchen table, and her sudden death was a tragic moment in Brad's life that deeply wounded Brad, but with unflagging courage he struggled to overcome his devastation, and eventually did shortly before his death. After university, he received his Security Certification and spent his early career developing his craft with several financial firms in the Halifax area and most recently served as a Financial Advisor for the Bank of Montreal, Lunenburg Co. Brad was a natural athlete and good at any sport he embraced, but he really excelled in golfing, wind surfing and sailing which took him across the globe in the company of his many dear friends. His most recent passion was fly fishing, which he enjoyed alone or with friends on the rivers of Nova Scotia. Brad had many other passions and talents including refinishing antiques, working on old Volvos or just plain tinkering around the garage and shed with his long-time friend Peter Coutts.
Brad spent each Christmas with his sister Jane and Colin in Houston, Texas basking in the sun, playing golf, and briefly enjoying the serenity of family life. However, his greatest achievement was nurturing the love of his family and friends, who will miss him but not forget him.
His remains have been cremated, a graveside service will be held at the Amherst Cemetery on August 20, 2010 at 11 am under the care and supervision of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777).
