It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt, Verna Clarke. Verna passed away Friday, August 27, 2010 in the Northside General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Alder Point, she was a daughter of Ruth (Sichky) Hoeg, and the late Walter Hoeg.
Verna is survived by her mother Ruth Hoeg, Florence; two sons, George (Mary Jessome) Clarke, Sydney Mines, Tom (Angie) Clarke, North Sydney; four daughters, Donna (Joe) MacInnis, Glace Bay, Debra Ann (Kenneth) Bonnar, Little Pond, Marilyn Crewe, North Sydney, Tracey Kimberly (Alton Daniels), Alberta; 23 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; a brother, Cyril (Rose 'Sis') Hoeg, Alder Point; a sister, Marilyn (Adrian) Whyte, Little Pond.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Alfred Clarke; her daughter, Joanne in infancy; her son, Dennis Clarke; two brothers, Spurgon (Marguerite) Hoeg, Vincent Hoeg; and by her sister, Eileen; and son-in-law, William Robinson.
Visitation for Verna will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held Monday, 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with Major Daniel Roode officiating. Burial to take place in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
