1935-2010 - Alberta Jean Godfrey, wife of Halvor (Bud) Godfrey, of the Douglasfield Road, Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Friday morning, September 17, 2010, at the age of 75. Born in Douglasfield, on February 12, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Bernetta (Walsh) Connell. She was a homemaker and a dedicated member of St. Pauls Anglican Church, Miramichi; a member of the A.C.W. (Anglican Church Women); a former Sunday School Teacher; a former Church Sexton; a member of the Altar Guild; a member of the Bible Study Group. She is survived by her husband, Bud Godfrey; two daughters, Shirley Manderson (Tate) and Peggy St. Coeur (Weldon), all of Miramichi; three sons, Douglas Godfrey (Cindy), Allen Godfrey (Lori), all of Miramichi, David Godfrey, of Fredericton; fourteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; five sisters, Mae Stewart, of Douglasfield, Gladys Lynch, of Nowlanville, Molly Worrell (Bun), of Miramichi, Joyce Johnston (Reginald), of Miramichi, Linda Shaddick (Winston), of Miramichi; two sisters in law, Lorna Connell, of Miramichi and Lea Connell, of Douglasfield; two brothers in law, Edward Shaddick and Patrick Foley, both of Miramichi; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one granddaughter, Michelle Godfrey (daughter of Allen); three sisters, Audrey Beminster, Marilyn Shaddick and Shirley Foley; three brothers, Burton, Douglas and Eldon Connell.
Visitation was held on Saturday & Sunday at the funeral home. The funeral service was held from St. Pauls Anglican Church, Miramichi, on Monday, September 20, 2010, at 11 am, conducted by Rev. Gordon Thompson, assisted by Holly Gallant and Laurie Baldwin. Music for the service was provided by Mrs. Janet Stothart and the hymns were "Here I Am Lord", "Because He Lives", "Breathe On Me, Breath Of God", "How Great Thou Art". A duet was offered by Barbara Parsons and Richard Walsh, "In The Garden". The scriptures were read by Holly Gallant and George MacCullum and the eulogy was given by Richard Walsh. The honorary pallbearers were Lloyd and Helen Stewart, Donald and Barbara Lynch, Wayne Bemister, Keith Shaddick, Raymond Ellis, Susan Mather, Billy Gallant. The active pallbearers were Tommy Johnston, Perry Shaddick, Ronnie Foley, Paul Connell, Stephen Connell, Brian Worrell. Interment was in the church cemetery.
