It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rita Matthews announces her sudden passing on Tuesday, September 21st, 2010 at her family residence at the age of 82 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her 12 children: Tom (Debbie), Corner Brook, Wayne (Winnie), Corner Brook, Ralph (Shelley), Spruce Grove, AB, Gerald (Paulette), Corner Brook, Dave (Alice), Corner Brook, Bernie (Lavern), Brampton, ON, Brian (Chrissy), Orillia, ON, Pete (Sharon), Corner Brook, Gertrude (Jim) McCarthy, Brampton, ON, John (Tereska), Brampton, ON, Marguerite (Michael) Brightman, Brampton, ON and Des, Orillia, ON; 36 grandchildren; large number of great grandchildren; one brother: Father Bernard Buckle, Curling; sister-in-law, Eileen Buckle, Corner Brook; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph; son, John; brother, Edward Buckle and parents: Bernard and Gertrude Buckle. Visitation will take place from Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue on Thursday evening from 7-9:00 p.m. and on Friday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, September 25th at 10:30 a.m. from All Hallows Church, Humber Road, Monsignor Edwin Gale and Father Bernard Buckle officiating. Cremation to follow, with urn burial at a later date. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shepherd's Fund.
