It is with great sadness we announce the loss of our Sonya after her courageous battle with cancer, which she faced with bravery, dignity and strength.
Sonya's life journey took her from Peterborough, Toronto, Ottawa, Victoria, before settling in Kelowna.
After obtaining her fine arts degree from UBC Kelowna, she devoted herself to bringing art therapy to those with disabilities. Everywhere she stopped she discovered many beautiful people who brought her much joy.
We will always remember her loyalty, her sparkly and loving personality and her remarkable courage.
Sonya was predeceased by her sister Jillian and is survived by husband, Michael, mother Marylou, father, John, sister, Stephanie, nephew, Quinn, 6, niece, Jenna, 4, brother-in-law, Todd and stepfather, Alan.
We wish to extend our appreciation and gratitude to family, friends who helped and supported her through this trying time.
A celebration of Sonya's life will be held on Oct. 16, 2010, at the Canadian Mental Health Association, Art Studio in Kelowna, 1-4 p.m. with a short time of sharing beginning at 2 p.m. Donations on Sonya's behalf may be made to same.
