Barbara Warwick (née Gzowski) died peacefully at Chateau Gardens London at age 91 on Monday, October 4, 2010. Devoted wife for 67 years of Dr. O. Harold Warwick who predeceased her in 2009. Beloved mother of two daughters: Wendy (Pete Martin), and Victoria (Brian Dingle), and of two sons: Glynn (Jane) and Peter (Heather). Adored grandmother and step-grandmother (Cindy Perrin, Kristi Stucke, Peter Martin, Jennifer Horner, Elizabeth Moore, Kellie O'Leary, Dustin Alix, Nick Dingle, Gillian Dingle, Rachel Dingle) and great-grandmother of 16. Barbara was predeceased by her five siblings: Mary, Helen Legg-Lord, Casimir, Vernon, and Edith. She will be sadly missed by her brother- in-law Bill Warwick (Westfield NB) and by sisters-in-law: Marjorie Miller (Penticton BC), Phyllis Durrant (Westfield NB), and Joy Gzowski (Orillia ON). Barbara was raised in Westmount (Montreal), QC. After their marriage, she and Harold lived in Montreal, Halifax, England, Toronto, and London, Ontario. Barbara had many interests in her earlier life including downhill skiing since age 3 (slalom became her favourite), and horseback riding. Cottaging with family in Muskoka and travelling with Harold were some of her favourite activities. Other interests involved being a tireless volunteer member of St. Paul's Moosenee Group and President of the church's Women's Association, Board member and volunteer of Museum London (Art Gallery), President of the Women's Canadian Club in London, and Chair of the Canadiana Group at the UWO Women's Faculty Club. Another major volunteer adventure was being convenor for the huge Canada Day celebration for the city of London at the Forks of the Thames in 1989. Barbara was named Volunteer of the Year for the Arts by the city in 1990. In 2004 Barbara entered a nursing home due to a fractured hip and increasing disability due to progressive supranuclear palsy, a Parkinson-like illness. She never complained despite the considerable physical challenges she encountered. The wonderful staff at Chateau Gardens London and her frequent visitors contributed to making her life there a happy one. Barbara will be remembered mostly for her very kind, gentle and generous nature, her creative/artistic side and her flair for making every social gathering that she and Harold had at home or cottage the most welcoming it could possibly be! Her family and friends have lost a very special lady who will be remembered in all of our hearts forever.
Cremation has taken place; there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Cathedral, 472 Richmond St. at Queens Avenue, London, ON, on Saturday, October 16 at 1:00 p.m., Archdeacon D. Ian Grant officiant. If desired, donations in Barbara's memory may be made to the first year civil engineering scholarship that she and Harold had created in honour of her great-
