Manser, Allan W. - has gone to be with his Lord and Saviour, on September 28, 2010 at the age of 88 years, at Hillside Estates with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Marion (nee Hurlburt) for 65 years; loved and respected dad of Allan Manser. Jr. (deceased), Sharon (Duane-deceased) Sawyer, Linda (Harry) Cassel, Gary, David (Wendy), and Michael (Brenda); cherished grampy of David (Lauren), Amy (Rob), Daniel, Becky, Donna (Brad), Jason (Susan), Sheila (John), Stephanie, Mathew, Simon, Alex, Kellie and Jessie. Great-grandchildren Addison, Austin, Nora, Dakota, Santana, Bailey, Victoria, Alexis, and Nadria; loving brother of Russel, and Maynard Manser (deceased) and "foster" sister Muriel Magee. He was predeceased by his parents Harris Manser and Martha Isobel Bull. Allan was born in Saskatchewan and raised in Kemptville and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and lived the last 59 years in Oshawa, Ontario. He was a General Motors employee for 38 years. He served in the Canadian Army from 1943 to 1946. Allan was Superintendent of the Oshawa Saint John Ambulance Division. He was treasurer of the Oshawa Deaf Centre for many years and a life member as well as treasurer of the Canadian Bible Society for Oshawa. He was also a long-time member of Ritson Road Alliance Church. Allan was a quiet, hard working-man and had a heart for the poor. Special thanks to the staff at Hillside Estates for their compassionate care and genuine kindness. Friends called at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King St. E., Oshawa on Friday, October 1, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p,m, Funeral service was on Saturday, October 2 at Ritson Road Alliance Church, 605 Ritson Road N., Oshawa at 11:00 a.m.; visitation was one hour prior. Interment followed at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers as an expression of sympathy, donations to the Ritson Road Alliance Church, Oshawa Deaf Centre, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
