Annie Lypchuk (nee Kowall) September 23, 1919 - October 17, 2010. Mom was born a twin to Egnacz and Eva Kowall (nee Zip) on September 23, 1919 in Young, Saskatchewan and later moved to Yellow Creek where she spent the majority of her life. On Sunday, October 17, 2010, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Royal University Hospital at the age of 91 years. On November 19, 1940 mom married the love of her life Dmytro (Mac) Lypchuk and were married over 64 years. After living in Timmins, Ontario mom and dad moved back to Yellow Creek and purchased a farm where they raised their three children; Deanna born September 1944, Ron May 1951 and Evelyn November of 1955. In October of 1955 mom lost her mother Eva in a tragic car accident and her dad eventually moved back to Yellow Creek where mom helped look after him. Mom was a bundle of energy. She ran the family farm while Dad worked on the CNR. She supplemented our income by tending large garden plots, rows of raspberries and selling milk in order to make ends meet. Through this all mom also volunteered tirelessly for the Ukrainian Orthodox Women's Association in Yellow Creek to help raise money to sustain the church. To this day almost 60 years later she was still very active in the ladies aid in both Prince Albert and Saskatoon. Mom also worked in the Yellow Creek Town Hall and she was very proud of this position as it gave her a chance to use her amazing bookkeeping skills. Mom and dad eventually moved to Prince Albert where they spent many happy years. Mom loved the city and she finally had the malls, food stores, and bingo halls that she was denied living on the farm. In 2000 our parents moved to Saskatoon into the Ilarion Residence were Mom made many dear friends. Mom loved her bingo and every Thursday she would ride the City Centre bingo bus to play. Mom had many good friends who visited her often. She was always willing to go anywhere - just say the word and mom would go. Mom loved to visit her sister Alice in Toronto and could not wait until Alice would come visit her at the Ilarion. She lived life to the fullest and she made sure that she kept in touch with people who knew her. No one left mom's home with an empty stomach. She was an amazing cook. Just prior to her stroke she made sure that her grandchildren received roasters of cabbage rolls and perogies. She also had a chance to teach them how to make these delicious foods. Mom loved cross-stitching, embroidery, knitting and crafts and we were all blessed to receive these gifts of love from her. Mom loved her Ukrainian roots and would be seen at many Ukrainian events where she especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren Ukrainian dance. We will miss you mom but we know that you are going to a place of peace and rest where you will be reunited with loved ones. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Mac in 2005; her parents, Egnacz and Eva Kowall; twin sister, Eva; brother, John in infancy and brother Ed Kowall. She is survived by her children, Deanna Turetski, Ron Lypchuk (Connie) and Evelyn Wojcichowsky (Ed). She also leaves behind her grandchildren Dale (Heather) Turetski, Matthew, Michael and Brett Lypchuk, Brianne Lypchuk, Angie, Luba and Alexis Wojcichowsky and great grandchild Jordyn Turetski; sister, Alice Stefanick, Toronto; brother, Orest Kowall (Helen) Victoria, BC; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Gervais and the kind and compassionate staff of the 6300 wing of the Royal University Hospital. You are caring wonderful people and your kindness will not be forgotten. Prayer Service for Annie will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be from All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church (2616 Louise Street, Saskatoon) with Very Reverend Fr. Bohdan Demczuk officiating.
