It is with sadness that we announce the passing of a dear husband and friend, Harry Steylen on Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his family.
Harry was a well known and loved barber for many years in Louisbourg. He was a devout Catholic and had great faith. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Born in Holland, He was the son of the late Antonius Steylen and Petranella de Kreyer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Holland Steylen; three sons, Paul (Cathy) Steylen, Halifax, Hans (Anna) Steylen and Mark (Betty) Steylen, both of Sydney; three sisters, Meip, Ans, Nora, all of Holland; two brothers, Ed of Holland and Jim, Louisbourg; grandchildren, Matthew, Andrea, Peter, Ann, Anthony, Benjamin, Robin and five great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Hendrica Cornelia Johanna Klercx, son, Peter, sister, Miek.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial mass celebrated Saturday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. in the Stella Maris Church, Louisbourg, with Fr. Patrick O'Neill officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
