Peacefully, surrounded by her family at the Summerset Manor, Summerside on Wednesday Oct. 27, 2010 of Miriam Irene Johnston formerly of Grant Drive, Summerside and Middleton, aged 77 years. Born in Darnley on September 6, 1933, the last surviving member of the family of the late Clarence and Hilda (Smith) Hickey. Wife of the late John Vernon Johnston. Mother of Katherine Collier-Bates (Lee), Chelton; Maureen McIver, Summerside; Paula Wilson, Burlington, Ontario; Austin (Lorna), Middleton; John R. (Gloria), Summerside; Dave (Theresa), Summerside and Clarence (Wendy), Ottawa, Ontario. Grandmother of Mindy Dewar, Pamela Little, Jonathan Collier, Jacqueline Muttart, Charity Waugh, Patrick, Hugh John, Rachel and Mary Beth McIver, Matthew and Victoria Wilson, Jill, Susan, Chris, Nicholas, Jenna, Amber, Kristine, Dylan, Nicole and Craig Johnston. Great grandmother of Cole Somers, Ashtyn and Owen Dewar, William Holland and Lilly Anna Collier-Van Dyk. Sister-in-law of Reuben Doyle, Doreen Hickey, Mary Johnston, Mary Kilbride, Jim (Mary) Johnston, Sister Georgina Johnston C.S.M., Clara (St. Clair) Duffy, Sister Frances Johnston, C.S.M., Leonard (Ann) Johnston and Robert (Joan) Johnston. Predeceased by brothers Gerald and Paul Hickey, sister Anna Doyle, brothers-in-law Austin and Gerald Johnston and Gerry Kilbride. Resting at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington for visitation Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass Friday in St. Paul's Church, Summerside at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Paul's Cemetery.
