OAKLEY, Alex- With regret, we announce the passing of our dear uncle and friend. Alex passed peacefully away on October 24, 2010, after a brief illness. Alex was an extraordinary man, a five time Canadian Olympic Athlete and wonderful human being. His life was spent dedicated to his love of sports and music. He was inducted into the Newfoundland and Labrador and Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame for race walking and also in his sports life participated in Pan American, Commonwealth and World Masters Games. Alex's love of music and performing delighted all that had the pleasure of meeting him. His family and friends will forever miss his kind and generous spirit. Entrusted into the care of Caul's Funeral Home, cremation has taken place and a private memorial and celebration of his life will be held at a later date. If desired donations in his memory may be made to Special Olympics or The Alzheimer's Society.
