The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, of Benedict “Ben” John Kennedy, of Summerside, aged 75 years. Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Edmund and Clara ( Power) Kennedy. Survived by his wife Doreen (Arsenault) Kennedy; son Stephen (Ann) Kennedy, Alymer, QC; Ben (Carol) Kennedy, Kensington; Chris Kennedy (Mike Brewster), Vancouver, BC; Kevin (Darlene) Kennedy, Charlottetown; Lisa Livingston-Kennedy (Rod Thibideau), Summerside; Kelly Kennedy, Halifax, NS; grandchildren Jill and Andrew Kennedy; Jodi and Kelsey Livingston; Scott and Brian Matheson; Taylor Perry; Lynn, Mark and Jesse Poirier; Shawn Tessier; great-grandchildren Bradley and Ethan Matheson; Amanda, Austin, Rosalie and Sophia Tessier; Sydney Watson-Tessier; great-great granddaughter Kyra Tessier; brother Peter (Amelda) Kennedy; sisters Clara (Bill) Picco, Theresa Kennedy, Catherine (Jim) Tarrant; and by a sister-in-law Hilda Kennedy, all of St. John’s, NL. Predeceased by brothers Patrick, Ed and Dominique Kennedy; sisters Ann (Cyril) Sears and Mary Kennedy. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Friday, then to St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Summerside, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Summerside. Visiting hours Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
