Eaton, Barbara Blenkhorn, 96 of Wolfville passed away Tuesday, Oct. 12 in Blomidon Court, Greenwich, Kings Co. She was born in Canning, June 21,1914, the daughter of the late Scott and Georgie (Pelton) Blenkhorn. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Surviving are sister, Jean (Frank) Carey; daughters, Joan (Frank) Graham, Charlottetown, PEI; Linda (John) Llewellyn, Stellarton; sons, Leonard (Sheila), Trenton; Robert (Betty), Lower Canard; Stephen (Mary Anne), Gospel Woods Road; grandchildren, Gordon and Peter Graham; Peter and David Llewellyn; Brian, Jill and Craig Eaton; Shelley Van Alstyne, Greg and Jeff Eaton; step-granddaughter, Amy Lyon; Alicia Corey, Joe and Michael Eaton and fourteen great grandchildren. Her nieces and nephews lament with the family. She was predeceased by husband, Seldon; son, Lawrence (in childhood); infant granddaughter, Melissa Eaton; brother, Ivan and sister, Doris Burbidge. Barbara lived in Lower Canard with her husband for over 47 years, where she and Seldon raised their six children and managed their farm. In 1994, she moved to Tideways in Wolfville, where she resided until April 2010 when she moved to Blomidon Court, Greenwich. Barbara taught school, played violin in the First Cornwallis Baptist Church and was an active participant in community events. During the 1960s she began making both braided and hooked rugs. She was a member of the Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia. She took great pleasure being with fellow members of her local rug hooking chapter “The Happy Hookers”. She became well known for her rug hooking skills and taught several rug hooking classes. Barbara enjoyed family and friends visits; playing card and board games and family picnics on the Bay of Fundy shores. Her special treat was celebrating her birthday at Stephen’s home. Cremation has taken place under the care & direction of the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook. Visitation was held on Friday, October 15, from 2- 4 and 7 – 9 pm in St. Andrew’s United Church, Wolfville. Funeral service was held in St. Andrew’s on Saturday, October 16, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Robyn Brown-Hewitt officiating. The service was followed by a reception in the church hall. Following the reception interment took place in Jaw Bone Corner Cemetery, Canard. Family flowers only.
