We deeply regret and are very saddened, to announce the passing of our wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great great-grandmother, Katherine Mary (MacLean) Halliday, on November 22, 2010 in Guysborough, NS.
Born in West Bay, on November 16, 1917, to the late William and Mary Elizabeth (Campbell) MacLean.
Mom moved to Sydney at a young age, where she met and married our father, George Halliday. Together they raised five children.
Mom was predeceased by two children in infancy, Georgina Katherine and Thomas William; brothers, Alex, Roddie, Donald and Howard; stepfather, William Gray, as well as our Dad in July 2004.
She is survived by her children, June Boutilier (Calvin), Sydney, Karen Kickham (Terry, deceased), Windsor, Ont., Bob (Patti), Dartmouth, Donna MacDonald (Miles), Guysborough and Debbie Denny (Nick), Sydney. She is also survived by her brother, Willie, West Bay Road; sisters, Miriam Ryer, Dartmouth and Genevieve MacEachern, Oakville, Ont., 14 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter.
For many years, Mom was an active member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, the Bethel Presbyterian Church Friendship Guild, Luther Young Missionary Society and the Order of Eastern Star. Mom was a resident of Williston House in Sydney for over six years and had many wonderful and caring friends there. She moved to the Milford Haven Home in Guysborough in October of 2009. The staff at Milford Haven were absolutely wonderful to her and words cannot express our thanks to everyone there for the wonderful care they gave to our Mom.

Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held Friday 2 p.m. at Bethel Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Robert Lyle officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
