It is with profound love that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary at the age of 88 on Nov. 30, 2010.
Left to celebrate Mary's life and cherish her memory are her children, Mike Shepherd, Nancy Shepherd, Mark Shepherd, Sheilagh (Tony) and Debbie (Peter); eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Theodore Tobin (Evelyn) and Theresa Kozero of Sydney, N.S.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Shepherd; one grandchild and nine brothers and sisters.
Mary was born in Westmount, 1922, daughter of John and Viola Tobin and was brought up in Sydney, Nova Scotia. She was a graduate of Holy Angels Convent and later Halifax Infirmary as an RN in 1944.
A memorial service will be held at Leyden's Funeral Home (corner of 17th Avenue & 2nd Street SW, Calgary) on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 at 4 p.m.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Peter Lougheed Centre and the palliative care nurses for their care and compassion.
