Ethel Stockford

Ethel Marjorie Stockford of Maxwell, NB died peacefully at her home on December 2, 2010 at the age of 90. Ethel was born at Monument Settlement on April 20, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Alafia Elizabeth (Bustard) Anderson. Ethel is survived by her loving husband, Walter Stockford of 67 years. She is also survived by one son, Wesley Stockford (Carolyn) of Northampton; one daughter, Linda Hamilton (Paul) of Skiff Lake; one daughter-in-law, Jeanette Stockford of Jacksonville. Ethel was a proud grandmother of five grandchildren, Benjamin Waugh (Lisa) of Marne, Andrew Waugh of Fredericton, Tracy Patterson (Chris) of Newburg, Christopher Stockford of Bramford, Ont, and Gary Hamilton of Canterbury; one great grandson, Colby Waugh; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Ethel was predeceased by her youngest son, Hazen Robert; two sisters, Stella Griffin and Jennie Nicholson; two brothers, Milo and Trevor Anderson. Ethel was the last surviving member of her family. Ethel's chosen career was a full-time mother and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, pickling, knitting, quilting, crocheting, and handiwork. One of her favorite pastimes was tending to her flowers. She gave her time willingly to her neighbors and friends. She loved sharing Christmas and Easter dinners with whoever came to her home. One of her greatest joys was raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren. Thank you mom for being the "wind beneath our wings" for so many years. This will continue, for a mother's love is forever. A grateful thanks to her care givers, Margie Ivey, Catherine Cairns, Betty Clark and Eleanor McKinney for their care and kindness, which enabled her to reside in her home for six years since her stroke. A special thanks to Dr. Fred Goodine for his many trips to care for Ethel. Resting at The Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, NB with visiting on Saturday, December 4th, 2010 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm from the Scott Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jane Arnott will be officiating, with interment in the St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, Kirkland. If desired, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery would be apreciated by the family. www.scottfh.com
