Robert Spence

Robert Alexander "Bob" Spence 76 years of Springhill, passed away Monday, December 6, 2010 in QE II Health Science Centre, Halifax. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the Late Harmon and Mary (Spence) Spence.
He served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 15 years then was employed with IMP, Amherst, for over 30 years. He also served on the Springhill Town Council for 10 years. Bob was a very friendly man who enjoyed Church, bowling, hockey, was an avid gardener, community volunteer and especially enjoyed being with his family.
He will be sadly missed by his wife the former Lois (McLeod) Calder; son, Robert "Bob" (Debbie) Spence, North Bay, Ontario; daughters, Angela Warham and Jean (Doug Jr.) Schiefer, both of Springhill, Monica (Wayne) Miller and Monahanna (Peter) MacDonald, both of Halifax; sister, Mona Hannah, Windham Hill, Cumb. Co.; brother, Kenneth (Jewel) Spence, Halifax; twenty one grandchildren and several great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife the former Vivian Ellsworth; daughter, Mary Scott; brothers, Junior, Jack, Donald, Mickey, Ernest and an infant brother Ernie; sisters, Helen, Mauretta, Evelyn and Frances.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) where visitation will be held 2 - 4 & 7 - 9, Thursday, December 9, 2010. Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, December 10, 2010 from Springhill Baptist Church, 47 Church Street, Springhill, with Pastor Paul Berry officiating. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill.
If so desired, donations in Bob's memory may be made to Springhill Baptist Church or Dr. Carson & Marion Murray Community Centre.
