(1922 2010) - Mrs. Jean Barbara Lambert formally of Woodwards Cove Grand Manan Island passed away Monday December 13, 2010 at the Grand Manan Nursing Home. She was born of the late Lee and Esther (Lewis) Trask at Little River, NS. As a young lady she found her way to Grand Manan Island to help Leroy and Iva Russell tend their family. When she met her future husband Arl, she decided Grand Manan would be her permanent home. In her early years she worked at Grand Manan Sea Products at the Thoroughfare. Working with her husband with their oil business and garage, she kept the books. Jean was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Central Wesleyan Church where she helped with the Sunday School, Missions, the Worship Choir, and was the Treasurer of the Wesleyan Women's Mission Group. She worked at the Grand Manan Nursing Home for over twelve years with kitchen crew. On Saturday mornings for many years from late spring until autumn Jean could be found selling her items at the Grand Manan Farmers Market where she enjoyed the weekly fellowship of others. She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Eugene) Ross of Victoria, BC, her son Lee Lambert (Susian) of North Head, NB. Her sister Joan Elderkin of Little River, NS. Her grandchildren Mark, Amanda, Trevor, Tyler, Wesley, and Abigail. Several nieces and nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband Mr. Arlington Lambert, her son Rickie, one sister Beulah Trask, and her brother Garfield Trask.
Visiting will take place from Ells Funeral Home Thursday from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Central Wesleyan Church on Friday December 17, 2010 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Kirk Perry officiating. Donations may be made to Action Ministries or to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation. The interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
