GREENWOOD - Sarah Helena of Swift Current, Saskatchewan passed away at the Prairie Pioneer Lodge on December 19, 2010 at the age of 95 years. Sarah was born on her dad's farm north of Webb, SK on April 10, 1915. She attended school at Lloyd School and at Webb as well as Normal school, for her Teacher's Certificate. She married James T. F. Greenwood on August 9, 1939. Sarah taught for 35 years at Lloyd, Versailles and Wymark schools. She was a member of the First United Church in Swift Current for more than 50 years and was also a member of the super annuated teachers. Sarah had many interests including quilting, painting, needlework, knitting, crocheting, bead-work, macrame, fishing, photography and baking. She is survived by her sons: Jim (Sharon) and Jim's children Crystal Brass, Joanne (Dan) Johnson, Lanny Greenwood and Tracey (Kelly) Greenwood; Stan (Jacquie) and their children Danielle (Gerry) Bourgeois and Travis (Naomi) Greenwood; daughter Marilyn (Ken) Eirich and their children Russell (Candice) Eirich and Rox Anne (Kim) Digney; and daughter-in-law Louise Greenwood and her children Jim (Kelly) Greenwood and Michael (Marisa) Greenwood; 20 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband James (1989), son Gordon (2009), daughter-in-law Wilma (2009), grandson Ryan (1976), brothers Tory, Robert, Chris, Ebby, and sister Anna Pratt, sisters-in-law Shirley and Ruth, and brother-in-law Bill Pratt. A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 from the First United Church, Swift Current, Saskatchewan at 1:00 pm with Shirley Wilson officiating. The organist was Patti McCleary, eulogist was Jim Greenwood, ushers were Delbert Jenson and Rick Jenson. Pallbearers were her grandchildren Travis Greenwood, Jim Greenwood, Michael Greenwood, Russell Eirich, Zachery Johnson and Brooks Johnson. Interment took place at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Sarah was a very talented lady, who did her projects to perfection. She will be remembered for her homemade buns, apple and rhubarb pies as well as her lefsa. She leaves many precious memories in the quilts, afghans, crocheted doilies, paintings and sweaters she gave to each family members. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the First United Church Memorial Fund, Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
