PALFREY, Dolores, I. (nee Powell) 1947-2010 - It is with great sadness that our family announces the death of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Dolores passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice on Christmas morning, 2010 at the age of 63 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dolores was born and raised in St. John's, NF but had been residing in Red Deer, AB since 2004 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered but sadly missed by her daughter Kelly (Brad) Olsen and their children Jordan Palfrey and Steven and Emma Olsen of Red Deer; her son Leonard Palfrey of Red Deer; her children's father Leonard Palfrey of St. John's; her three sisters Carol Fleming of St. John's, Judy (Ed) Byrd of St. John's, and Jeanette (Frank) Winsor of Ferryland, NL; her three brothers Donny (Chris) Powell, Rod (Bev) Powell, and Brian Powell all of St. John's; her brother-in law Basil Fleming of St. John's; her sister-in-law Pauline (Don Power) Stringer of Salmonier Line, NL; her best friend Jim Tilley of St. John's; good friend Bernie Fogwell of St. John's; Carol Sommers of St. John's and the Earle family; twenty-three nieces and nephews; and numerous other family and friends. Dolores is predeceased by her parents Marguerite and Thomas Powell, youngest brother Johnny Powell, and closest friend Jackie Hearn. Cremation has been entrusted to Personal Alternative Funeral Services of Red Deer, AB. A Memorial Service will be planned for a later date in St. John's. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Red Deer Hospice Society would be greatly appreciated. Their care of whom they lovingly referred to as "Dolly" was exceptional and beyond compassionate.
