We regret to announce the passing of William 'Bill' Burke at Harbourstone Enhanced Care on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, following a brief illness.
Bill lived most of his life in Little Lorraine, where he was a truck driver making many trips to the USA and was a member of the Immaculate Conception parish, Main A Dieu. Later in life, he worked as a finish carpenter at the Fortress of Louisbourg for 25 years. After retirement, he moved to Sydney.
Bill was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Betty; his parents, William D. and Veronica (Bates) Burke.
He is survived by his brother, Sylvester (Susan), Catalone; adopted sister, Anna Anderson; three nieces and five nephews.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Monday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday 11 a.m., with Rev. Patrick O'Neill officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
