It is with profound sadness that the family announce the passing of Mr. Lyle Sever Sletten, age 78, on December 25, 2010 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK. Lyle was born on the family farm in the Hazlet district on May 22, 1932, the ninth of ten children born to Sever and Tilda Sletten. Lyle attended Pittville School before he began his farming career with his brother Arnold in 1952. In 1963, Lyle took over the family farm where he lived until he moved to Swift Current in 1977. Lyle continued to farm in Hazlet until his retirement after the harvest of 1991. In retirement, Lyle enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He spent many summers camping at the Saskatchewan Landing and traveling to visit his sons and daughters. Lyle was an avid fisherman and thoroughly enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren. In the summer of 2010, Lyle was especially thrilled to take his youngest grandson, Spencer, on his first fishing trip. Lyle was a loving, caring, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. We love you Dad. Lyle was pre-deceased by his parents: Sever and Tilda (nee Lien) Sletten; brothers: Milo, Ervin, Arnold, and Raymond; sisters: Lorraine, Opal, and Joyce. Lyle is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Lynne, five sons: Wayne (Vicki), Jeff (Beth), Blake (Angela), Jayson (Dianne), and Chadwick (Brandy); two daughters: Sharon and Angela; one brother: Orval; one sister: Ardis; one brother-in-law: Mike Crook (Anne); one sister-in-law: Elaine; as well as 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
