The death of Alex occurred at home in Cuyahoga Falls, Akron, Ohio on Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, in his 87th year.
Born in Hungary, he was the eldest son of Louis and Rose (Dakai) Ihasz, Sydney.
He came to Canada at the age of nine with his brother, Frank (age seven) and their mother. Their father had already arrived in Canada, a few years before.
Alex is survived by sons, Rev. Gary, Bobby and Mark. He was grandfather to seven grandchildren. Family surviving in Nova Scotia are brothers, Rev. Vincent (Anne), Dartmouth, Rev. Louis (Mary), Baddeck; sister, Mary (Jack) Brill, Lower Sackville; nieces and nephews in Nova Scotia and Ontario.
He was predeceased by his parents and wife, Julia (Kish) (Jan. 13, 2009); brother, Frank and wife, Rosemary.
A service of Celebration and Thanksgiving was held Friday, Dec. 18 in Cuyahoga Falls, Rev. Vincent and Rev. Louis Ihasz officiated at the service.
