It is with great sadness that the family announce the unexpected death of Bill Babineau which occurred at the Loch Lomond Villa on January 6, 2011. Born in Saint John 1939 to the late William F. and Pearl (Williams) Babineau. In his earlier years Bill served for the the Royal Canadian Army working with the Signal Corps in Egypt during peace keeping time as a Cryptographer; in later years he worked as a self employed Mechanic.He was a past member of the RC Legion and the School Board Bowling League. Bill was a devoted grandfather and had a great sense of humour. He is survived by his former wife and friend Edna (Losier) Babineau; sons William "Bill" (Judy) of Quispamsis, Valmond (Kelly Pitre) of Saint John and Sean (Riann) of Halifax, NS; daughters Marilyn Dikens (Joe Lennon), Karen Deuville (Edward Driscoll) both of Saint John, Katherine Ambrus of Fort McMurray and Michelle Walsh (Tim) of Upper Golden Grove; brothers Ronald of Quispamsis and Steven (Mary Dawn) of Moncton; sisters Barbara McIllwrith, April Hovey (Mack) both of Saint John, Valerie Scichilone( Dominic) of Quispamsis, Nanette Dunham (Mark) and Bonnie Allen (Robert) both of Hampton; 10 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Friday, January 7th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Ann's Catholic Church 135Simpson Dr. on Saturday, January 8th, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations in Bill's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Saint John Animal Rescue League or to the charity of the donor's choice.
