BERGER, Joan Lillian - Peacefully Saturday January 1, 2011 at the age of 78 years. Long term resident of Orleans with her heart still in Nova Scotia. Joan brought in a New Year, only to exit quietly from a long disagreement with cancer. She was an avid square and round dancer; a world traveller & photographer; a stern mother. Predeceased by her husband Alfons Berger, Joan is survived by her children, Gwendolyn (Rex Wier), Toni Williams, Lynn Williams, Stephen (Linette) Williams, stepdaughter Teena Berger; her grandchildren Tiffany and Everett Williams, Christopher and Cameron Chisholm, Marguerite Duncan and Mason and Aaron Williams as well as a dear friend and companion John VanderHeyden. Friends paid their respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, Orleans, on Saturday January 8, 2011, followed by a Service in Memory of Joan in the Chapel. In memoriam donations to the Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated.
