Isabel "Pop" Scopie, 98 years of age, of River Hebert passed away on Monday January 17, 2011 at the Drew Nursing Home, Sackville, while surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Portmouth, England she was a daughter of the late William & Isabel (Karley) Poplar.
Isabel was a member of St. Alban's Anglican Church. She was very well known as owner and operator of Pop's Grocery Store in Strathcona.
Isabel will be sadly missed by her daughters; June Porter (Stan) of Ottawa, ON, Ann Marie Gray (James) of St. Andrew's, MB; sons, Dean
(Lorna) of Port Elgin, NB, David (Monica) of Ottawa, ON; twenty four grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren; daughter in law Alta Scopie, Halifax, NS
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Michael in 1968; sons, Donald, Robert, and John Wesley; brothers John and William, sister Mary Taylor "Sis".
Isabel's remains are resting at Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 667-8777 (70 Church St. Amherst, NS) with visiting hours on Thursday from 2 to
4 and 7 to 9 pm. Her funeral service will be held at the Furlong~Jones Chapel on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 11 am, Rev. Father Kevin Stockall officiating. Burial will take place in the Hillside Cemetery, River Hebert East in the spring.
